Crack Your Core Belief

Answer each question to loosen the grip of a harsh belief.

A harsh belief can sit in your mind for years without ever being questioned.
It quietly shapes how you see yourself, how you act, and what you think you deserve.
It can cost you confidence, connection, and chances to grow — all without you even noticing.

We softened the belief in Step 1.
Now we test it.

This is how psychology actually works.
Instead of forcing your brain to “think positive,” you ask it to look for evidence.

What happened?
Is the belief always true?
What does your life actually show?

By the end of this exercise, you might be surprised.
Maybe the story you’ve been telling yourself for years wasn’t the truth. Now let’s look closer.

Crack the Belief

Start with the event that triggered the harsh belief, then work through each question.

✔️ You Cracked the Belief

Here is the belief you started with — and the alternative you chose.

Why This Tool Works

A harsh core belief feels like a fact, not a thought.
When it shows up, your brain doesn’t question it — it reacts to it.
That’s why trying to “prove it wrong” often doesn’t work. The belief feels too rigid, too loud, too familiar.

Softening the belief first changes how your brain holds it.
It moves the belief out of the “absolute truth” box and into the “maybe” box.
That tiny shift matters. It lowers the emotional intensity, reduces defensiveness, and gives your mind enough space to look at the belief instead of automatically obeying it.

Psychology is clear: your brain can’t properly evaluate a belief while it’s in threat mode.
It can only start to question it once the belief is softened.

When the belief loosens even a little, your brain becomes more flexible.
It can pause. It can observe. It can consider other possibilities.
That’s when you can finally look for evidence — not to force positivity, but to see what’s actually true.

Once you start noticing evidence that doesn’t fit the harsh belief, the old story begins to crack.
Not because you argued with it.
Not because you tried to overpower it.
But because your brain finally had room to see the full picture.

Softening opens the door.
Evidence walks through it.
That’s how a belief changes.

What You Are Looking For

  • Facts rather than automatic judgements
  • Evidence your old belief ignores
  • Exceptions to the harsh story

Remember

  • A mistake does not define you
  • A thought is not automatically a fact
  • You can choose a more balanced belief
P.S. Repeat the new belief daily. Your brain follows what you practise.
